Davis exited the Lakers' 118-104 loss in the first quarter and later underwent an MRI that revealed an abdominal strain, the team said in a statement. The nine-time All-Star will head back to Lo𒐪s Angeles and is scheduled to be re-evaluated in approximately one week.
The 31-year-old has dealt with several injuries in the past but had remained healthy this season up to this point, having p💦layed in 42 of the Lakers' 45 games. Davis has played a key role in the Lakers' rise to first place in the Pacific Division by averaging 25.7 points, 11.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.1 blocks per game.
Davis had been playing some of his best basketball of late as well. The 𝓀veteran big man entered Tuesday's contest averaging 32.8 points, 15.0 rebounds, 3.3 assi🔯sts and 2.5 blocks during a four-game winning streak the Lakers carried into Philadelphia.
The injury will keep Davi💦s out until at least Feb. 6, when the Lakers return home to face the Golden State Warriors. The Lakers, who lead the cross-town Clippers by a half-game for first place in the Pacific, have three remaining games on their current road trip.
