Jon Rahm Hopes To Play In Ryder Cup Despite Looming Sanctions

The Spaniard is currently waiting to hear the result of his appeal of fines and suspensions brought against him by the DP World Tour for competing in LIV Golf events held concurrently with the European circuit's tournaments in 2024

Jon Rahm remains ho൩peful he will be able to compete for the European team in the Ryder Cup in New York later this year.

The Spaniard is currently waiting to hear the result of his appeal of fines and suspensions brought against him by the DP World Tour for competing 🐷in LIV Golf events held concurrently with the European circuit's tournaments in 2024.

Rahm appealed the sanctions brought against him in September, allowing him to continue competing in DP World Tour events🔴 to meet the minimum four starts required to be eligible for the Ryder Cup.

Despite tܫhe ongoing uncertainty surrounding him, Rahm insis𒅌ts he still plans to play for Europe in the Ryder Cup at Bethpage in September.

"I don't know what's going to happen in the future, but I can tell you my plan is to be on that team at Bethpage," Rahm told reporters at the Hero Dubai Desert C🌌lassic on Tuesday.

"I'm hoping they [t♒he DP World Tour] don't try to settle the appeal before the Ryder Cup. I don't💃 think that would be good for anybody. But my plan is to be at Bethpage."

Rahm, ♉a two-time major winner and defending LꦯIV Golf individual champion, is 17th in the European Ryder Cup team rankings, over 500 points behind leader Rory McIlroy.

The top six af༒ter the British Masters on August 24 will autom𒀰atically qualify, with captain Luke Donald then selecting a further six.

If he makes the team, Rahm will be playing his fourth t🍸ournament and determined to win in the United States.

"The last time [an away team won] was 2012 and from then on the home team has won by large margins, so clearly, tea♏ms haꦗve become a lot better at defending their home turf," Rahm said.

"The golf course set-up has become a lot different, and Rory said it best in Italy when he said winning an away Ryder Cu♌p has become one of the haꦉrdest things to do in golf.

&൲quot;He is right. It would be incredible to be part of a team that wins away.&qu⛦ot;
