India created history in the second Test against Bangladesh at Green Park in Kanpur, unleashing their own version of Bazball to secure a stunning seven-wicket victory despite losing two and a half of the first three days of play d🌳ue to rain and a wet outfield.
India dismissed Bangladesh for 233 in the first innings ju💃st ♔before tea on Day 4 and the match seemed to be heading for a draw. But the home team had slightly different plans. They came out all guns blazing, rocketing to their fifty in just three overs, making them the fastest ever in Test history to do so.
Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal went on a rampage and added 55 for the opening wicket in just 23 deliveries at a stunning run-rate of 14.34 – it was the fastest 50-plus partnership in Test cricket history.
India did not stop and continued in T20 mode, racing to their team hundred in 10.1 overs – making it the fastest in Test cricket. They ma𓄧de mincemeat of the Bangladesh bowling at🔯tack, smashing their way to 200 in just 24.2 overs – again, no team had ever crossed the 200-run mark in quicker time.
India finally declared at 285/9 in 34.4 overs, scoring at a mind-boggling run-rate of 8.22 – the highest in Test cricket for a🐓ny team who faced a minimum of 200 deliveries.
The trio of Jasprit Bumrah, R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja then bowled out Bangladesh♚ for 146 in 47 overs. India knocked off the 95-r🎃un target in just under 18 overs to secure a memorable win – a win made possible by India’s own version of Bazball.
Mongolia were routed for 10 by Singapore in 10 overs at the ICC T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier A in Bangi – the joint-lowest team total in T20I cricket history.🧔 Harsha Bharadwaj was the pick of the bowlers for Si💖ngapore and returned with figures of 4 overs, 2 maidens, 3 runs and 6 wickets. No Mongolian batter crossed 2 in the innings. Isle of Man were also dismissed for 10 by Spain in 2023.
Australia defeated England by 68 runs in the second ODI at Leeds to register a record 14th✤ consecutive win in the format. It was the second-longest such streak in ODI history and stretched from their five-wicket win against Sri Lanka in Lucknow in the 2023 World Cup in India (16th October, 2023) till the victory at Headingley against England. Australia also hold the record for the longest such streak – 21 matches – which they achieved between January, 2003 and May, 2003.
The Trinbago Knight Riders and Antigua & Barbuda Falcons’ CPL 2024 encounter at Port of Spain was marred in controversy when Imad Wasim was recalled after being given out by the tꦆhird umpire. The incident occurred on the second ball of the 10th over of ๊the chase.
Sunil Narine struck Wasim on the pads but the LBW appeal was turned down by the on-field umpire Christopher Taylor. Kieron Pollard, the TKR captain went for the review and the DRS overturned the on-field call adjudging W🌳asim leg before wicket.
However, replays suggested that there might have been an edge before the ball hit the pad. In a bizarre turn of events, the on-field umpire reverted to his decision and recalled Wasim back to the crease. There was drama and chaos and there were animated discussions between Pollard and the on-ꦍfield umpires with the two coaches – Curtly Ambrose and Phil Simmons – also getting into the thick of the action.
Guyana Amazon Warriors blasted 266/7 in their allotted 20 overs against St Kitts & Nevis Patriots at Basseterre, falling just one run short of the highest CPL total ever – 267/2 by Trinbܫago Knight Riders in 2019. Shimron Hetmyer was the star performer and smashed 91 off just 39 deliveries in a breathtaking knock which included 11 sixes.
