SLBC Tunnel Collapse: 8 Workers Remain Trapped; NDRF, Army Boost Rescue Efforts

Rescue operations remain ongoing after eight workers were trapped after a tunnel collapse at Telangana's Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC). As per the latest reports, the rescue efforts are underway by a team of NDRF and SDRF officials as well as a task f🅷orce sent in by the Indian Army.

The trapped workers include two engineers, two technical staff and four labourers. Around 13 workers su✅stained injuries due to the collapse but were able to come out of the tunnel with the help of 29 other workers who managed to escape unhurt.

💫Speaking to ANI, officials have stated that the exact location of the trapped workers is yet to be determined due to the debris blocking the area.

"Yesterday around 10 PM we went inside to check what the situation is like. The locomotives were used to go inside the tunnel. From the gate of the tunnel, we covered around 13.5 km in total. We covered 11 km by train and then we covered the rest of 2 km by conveyor belt and by walking," NDRF Deputy Co𝐆mmandant Sukhendu Datta told news agency ANI.

The Indian Army 🅰has mobilised its Engineer Task Force for the rescue operation ༒at the request of the Chief Secretary of Telangana.

Jharkhand CM Offers Help For Rescue Operations

Among the trapped workers, the four labourers are natives of Jharkhand. Taking note of the tunnel collapse, Chief Minister Hemant Soren urged Telangana CM Revanth Reddy to ensure the rescue of the trapped work🐈ers.

The stat𓆉e governꩵment has also offered its help for the rescue operations.

"There are reports of some workers from other states including Jharkhand b🥂eing trapped in the Srisailam Left 💫Bank Canal Tunnel accident in Nagarkurnool district of Telangana. I request the Chief Minister of Telangana, Mr Revanth Reddy ji, to provide all possible rescue help in the tunnel accident. I pray for the safety of all the workers trapped in the accident from Marang Buru," Soren posted on X on Saturday night.
