Newly elected BJP MLA Mohan Singh Bisht from Mustafabad, the neighbourhood that bore the brunt of the violence during the 2020 riots, has announced that t♈he name of the constituency will be ch🍎anged to Shiv Puri or Shiv Vihar, citing its substantial Hindu population.
After winni🐎ng, talking to the media, Mohan Singh Bisht said that I'll change the name of Mus🐎tafabad.
"...I had said that if I win, I'll change the name of Mustafabad to Shiv Puri or Shiv Vihar... I'll do it...," Mohan Singh Bisht said, as quoted by ANI, adding that people are worried "with the name Mustafa, so this🀅 work has to be done. Why caꦺn't the area where Hindus are living be named Shiv Puri or Shiv Vihar instead of Mustafabad."
Providing context for his decision to rename Mustafabad, citing Bisht, reported PTI, that on one side, there are 58 percent of people and, on the other, 42 percent. It is the right of the 58 percent that the name should be changed accord🍌ingly. The namꦛe could be Shiv Vihar or Shiv Puri.
Bisht later told NDTV, "What is their problem if the name is changed? On the one hand, there are 58 per cent and 42 per cent on the other. Whom should we respect.Autos will run and so wiꦺll cabs. The bulldozer will run"
The 67-year-old secured victory over AAP's Adeel Ahmad Khan i✤n Mustafabad by 17,🍎578 votes.
BJP leader Mohan Singh Bisht has been a well-known face in Delhi politics. Bisht was first elected MLA from the Karawal Nagar seat in 1998. Bisht had been winning from Karawal Nagar in the last three elections and retained this seat till 2015, but this time he was finally replaced by AAP leader Kapil Mis♓hra.
Mohan Singh Bisht defeated AAP's Durgesh Pathak and won the Karawal Nagar seat in 2020. According to BJP's internal surveys, Karawal Nagar voters are said to have preferre🍬d Mishra's Purvanchal background.
This victory for Mustafabad is not only historic but also reღmarkable, as the🌳 constituency has a high density of 'Muslim' population, which is around 40% of the total population.
AAP's Adeel Ahmed Khan stoo🃏d second in the election results, while AIMIM's Tahꦺir Hussain stood third.
