ꦚThe Bharatiya Janta Party has reacted to the sexist comments passed by Kalkaji candidate Ramesh Bidhuri against Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi and Delhi Chief Minister Atishi.
ꦫThe BJP stated that it disapproved of Bidhuri's remarks. In a statement issued by its Delhi wing, media department head Praveen Shankar Kapoor said that political leaders should refrain from making "personal gender-related or family-related comments" against others.
🌠As reported by PTI, a group of female Congress workers, filed a complaint against the BJP leader in Lucknow and demanded that an FIR be filed against Bidhuri for his remarks against Priyanka Gandhi.
♋"I request that an FIR be registered against Ramesh Bidhuri for using offensive language towards a respected woman and tarnishing her image," wrote Congress leader Mamta Chaudhary, representing Malviya Nagar Ward 21 in Lucknow, in her formal complaint.
🦋In a speech at Kalkaji on Saturday, the BJP leader was heard saying - "Lalu had said that he will develop roads in Bihar as smooth as Hema Malini’s cheeks. Lalu had lied. But I assure you just as we made the roads in Okhla and Sangam Vihar, we will make all the roads in Kalkaji, sudhar camp, inner and outer roads like Priyanka Gandhi’s cheeks.”
Bidhuri's remark went viralꦏ on social media, resulting in backlash due to its sexist nature.
♏Following the uproar about the statements against Gandhi, Bidhuri expressed his "regret.". However, the same day in Rohini, the BJP leader hit out with a fresh statement, this time targeting Delhi CM and AAP leader Atishi.
🤡"Marlena (Atishi) has changed her father. Earlier she was Marlena, now she has become Singh. This is their character,” he said.
𝔉Bidhuri received backlash from both Congress party and the Aam Aadmi Party for his comments against the leaders.
