New York- Delhi Flight Diverted To Rome Due To Suspected Bomb Threat; Cleared Later

The airline apologised for the disruption to passengers and confirmed that the 🍬flight landed🔥 safely in Rome.

An American Airlines flight from New York to Delhi, carrying 199 passengers and 15 crew members, made an unexpected landing in Rome on Sunday evening after a suspected bomb threat 🔯was reported.

After inspection it was cleared for departure.

Visuals released by the Italian defense ministry via Reuters showed the Boeing 787-9 aircraft being escorted by the Italian Air Force before landing in Rome. The footage was posted by ANI on the microblogging website X.

Statement From Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) told PTI that the American Airlines flight AA292 was diverted to𝐆 Rome after the crew reported a "security issue".

"The Boeing 787-9 aircraft landed safely at Leon🃏ardo da Vinci International Airport in Rome around 5:30 p.m. local time," FAAไ said.

Italian news agency ANSA also reported that the flight was diverted following🐻 a request from American Airlines for security checks related to a "suspected bomb t🐈hreat". 

In a statement released to Press Trust Of India, American Airlines sꦺaid, "🐽flight 292 was diverted to Rome due to a possible security concern."

Apologies From Airline

The airline apologised for the disruption to passen💧gers an𝓰d confirmed that the flight landed safely in Rome.

Following a thorough inspection by law enforcement authorities, the aircraft was cleared ꦛto depart again, allowing the journey to continue.

"The flight will stay in Rome overnight to allow for required crew rest before continuing to Delhi as soon as possible tomorrow. Safety and security are our top priorities and we apologise to our customers for♏ the inconvenience" the airline stated in a statement.

Ac♑cording to the airline, the potential issue was considered unreliable, but as per Delhi airport protocol, inspection was required before landing in Delhi.
