🃏The IMD on Monday forecast the continuance of the cold wave weather condition for the next two days in Odisha. The weathermen said the prevailing cold weather was due to the dry and cold northwesterly winds flowing towards the state.
ꦛCold weather conditions were observed across parts of North and West India on Sunday, with temperatures dropping significantly in Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Rajasthan, where low temperatures have persisted for the past week. Additionally, several districts in Odisha, an eastern state, also recorded temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius, with Mayurbhanj experiencing a low of 1degree Celsius on Sunday.
⛄Tamil Nadu continues to reel under strong winds and the India Meteorological Department has warned the fishermen in the state to stay in the shores till December 19 for the weather to get better.
൩With a cold wave sweeping across Odisha, 15 places recorded temperatures below 10 degree Celsius with Similipal National Park in Mayurbhanj district, the coldest in the state at 1 degree Celsius.

꧋According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, as many as 15 stations recorded minimum temperature below 10 degree Celsius on Monday morning. The steel city of Rourkela recorded a minimum of 5.7 degree Celsius in the plains, the mercury level fell to 4.8 degree at G Udaygiri in the hills.
🍬"No large change in minimum temperature (night temperature) during next two days and thereafter gradual rise by 3-5 degree celsius for subsequent three days over the districts of Odisha," the Met office said, adding that cold wave conditions likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sundergarh and Angul on Tuesday.
ꦍThe weather observatories placed inside Similipal National Park said that the lowest of 1 degree Celsius was recorded at Upar Barakamuda followed by 3 degree Celsius at Chahala, 4 degree C at Nawana, 5 degree C at Barehipani, 6 degree at Guruguria and 10 degree at Ramatirtha in Mayurbhanj district.
𝓰Reports of heavy frosting (a thin layer of ice crystals that forms on a surface) were received from different places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Sundergarh districts, Met office sources said.
🉐The other places which recorded below 10 degree Celsius were: G Udaygiri (4.8), Similiguda (5.3), Rourkela (5.7), Phulbani (7), Jharsuguda (7.1), Daringbadi (7.5), Bhawanipatna (7.8), Angul (8), Kirei (8.3), Chipilima (8.4), Keonjhar (8.8), Sundergarh (9), Jagatsinghpur (9.5), Koraput and Dhenkanal (9.6).
💙The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 10.9 degree Celsius and 11 degree Celsius, respectively.
꧃Kashmir was in the grip of intense cold wave as the minimum temperature stayed several degrees below freezing point, officials said here on Monday.
⛎Srinagar recorded a minimum of -3.4°C, matching the previous night. Gulmarg's low was -4°C, slightly colder than before, while Pahalgam saw -5°C, down from -4.8°C. Konibal, near Pampore, was the coldest at -6°C. Qazigund, Kupwara, and Kokernag recorded lows of -4°C, -4.2°C, and -3.9°C, respectively.
ౠThe Met office has forecast mainly dry weather till December 26 with possibility of light snowfall in higher reaches of the valley on the night of December 21-22.
ꩵHowever, the minimum temperature is forecast to fall further in the valley and there will be a cold wave over many stations during the next three days, it said.
🌞The IMD has forecast squally weather off South Tamil Nadu coast among other areas for the coming days, and warned fishermen against venturing into the sea, the Tamil Nadu State Disaster Management Authority (TNSDMA) said on Monday.
ꦫSqually weather which means strong gusts of wind often accompanied with heavy rain or storm may continue in Tamil Nadu till Thursday, said IMD. They also specified that the wind speed of 35 kmph to 45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph was likely along and off North Tamil Nadu coast and South Andhra Pradesh coast on December 19.
ꦜAccording to an update issued at 5.30 am, the regional weather office said: "Squally weather with wind speed 35 kmph to 45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph is likely to prevail along and off South Tamil Nadu coast, adjoining Comorin area and Gulf of Mannar," on Monday. TNSDMA shared the update on its official 'X' page.
𓃲"Fishermen are advised not to venture into the above sea area during the above mentioned dates," the update added.
💙The national capital recorded a minimum temperature of 4.5 degrees Celsius on Monday morning, with the air quality recorded in the 'very poor' category.
꧒Cold wave conditions were observed by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in the city with temperatures dipping to 3.5 degrees Celsius in Pusa area and 4.1 degrees Celsius in the Ayanagar area.
✤Delhi recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 351 at 9 am, according to the Central Pollution Control Board.
♎An AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', 51 and 100 'satisfactory', 101 and 200 'moderate', 201 and 300 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor' and 401 and 500 'severe'.
ꦓThe maximum temperature is expected to rise to around 23 degrees Celsius.
🎉At 8:30 am, humidity levels were recorded at 100 percent.
⛦Temperatures in Himachal Pradesh rose by 3-5°C in higher regions, while cold wave conditions affected the lower hills. Tabo recorded the coldest night at -10.6°C, while Shimla was the warmest at 12.2°C, 6.5°C above normal.
🅰Una and Sundernagar had minimums of 0.2°C and 0.6°C, respectively.
❀The local meteorological office has issued a 'yellow' warning for cold wave at isolated places in the lower hills and plains till Thursday and predicted dry weather in the state over the next seven days.
🌳Cold wave conditions will prevail in Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur and parts of Kangra districts, the weather office said.
