French President Emmanuel Macron and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi co-hosted the Artificial Intꦓelligence Action Summit in Paris. US, UK Back Away From Joint Statement

Despite being signed by 60 countries, the UK and the US backed away from sಞigning the joint statement. As per a spokesperson from the UK government, London has stat🦹ed that the joint statement had not gone "far enough."

"We agreed with much of the leaders’ declaration and continue to work closely with our international partners. This is reflected in our signing of agreements on sustainability and cybersecurity today at the Paris AI Action Summit. However, we felt the declaration didn’t provide enough practical clarity on global governance, nor sufficiently address harder question🔜s around national sec🌊urity and the challenge AI poses to it," the spokesperson said.

US Vice President JD Vance made Washington's snub evident after he criticised Eu🍬rope's "excessive regulation" of technology, adding that this move could kill "a transformative industry" such as AI.

Switch In Approach To AI

The previous AI🔯 summits in the US and South Korea focused more on the risks of artificial intelligence, intending to reduce its𒊎 use.

However, with the Paris summit, the foc꧋us has shifted to incorporating the use of AI in a sust🎶ainable and inclusive manner.

Panellists at the summit also focused on AI's abi🌺lity to accelerate progress in areas of medicine and climate science.
