Year-Ender 2024: Stree 2 To Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Top 10 Highest-Grossing Hindi Movies Of The Year

Unlike last year, year 2024 has not been that great in terms of box office business. As per trade analysts and experts, Bollywood is approximately 20 to 30% behind in terms of net box office𒁏 collections in the domestic market as compared to 2023. The India box office business for the first six months was 7.5% down than last year, as per data by Ormax. Between January to November, the business was 4% lower than the same period last year.

Last year films like Jawan, Pathaan, Animal and Gadar did record-breaking collections and this year medium-budget films like Shaitaan, Munjya, Crew and Stree 2♎ did profitable business at the box office compared to last year.

Top 10 Highest Grossing Hindi Movies Of 2024

Fighter

Starring Deepika Padukone, Hrithik Roshan and Anil Kapoor in key roles, the Siddharth Anand directorial made a gross collection of Rs 355.4 crore as per IMDb. The story of Fighter⛄ is based on the Balakot airstrikes post the Pulwama attack in 2019. Deepika plays Squadron Leader Minal Rathore aka Minni and Hrithik is in the role of Squadron Leader Shamsher Pathania aka Patty. The film also stars Karan Singh Grover and Akshay Oberoi in significant roles.

Kalki 2898 AD (Hindi version)

The Hindi version of Kalki 2898 AD reportedly earned Rs 295 crore at the box office. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the sci-fi thriller had an ensemble cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan among others. Set in the post-apocalyptic world, Kalki 2898 AD🌺 is the story of Bhairava, a bounty hunter who wants a luxurious life in The Complex, a privileged area that suppresses the poor. Bhairava (Prabhas) is assigned to stop the delivery of a pregnant woman, known as Sum-80 (Deepika Padukone).

Shaitaan

Starring Ajay Devgn, R Madhavan and Jyotika, the supernatural film is a Hindi remake of the 2023 Gujarati film Vash🏅. The story revolves around a family held hostage at their home by a man with supernatural powers. It collected Rs 212.2 crore worldwide.

Singham Again

The cop drama which has references to the Hindu epic Ramayana, made a gross collection of Rs 378.4 crore at the box office. Directed by Rohit Shetty, it starred Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor, Deepika Padukoneಌ, Arjun Kapoor, Tiger Shroff, and Jackie Shroff.  

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3

The horror comedy with unexpected twists and turns earned Rs 396.7 crore worldwide. It starred Kartik Aaryan♓, Triptii Dimri, Vidya Balan, Madhuri Dixit and Rajpal Yadav among others .

Stree 2

Stree 2ꦉ is one of the top grossers of this year. The horror comedy has been raved by audiences and critics alike for its storytelling, performances and giving a strong social message while entertaining. The film starred Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurana in significant roles. Made on a reported budget of Rs 100 crore, the film earned Rs 858.4 crore.

Munjya

Sharvari Wagh and Abhay Verma starrer Munjya was a surprise blockbuster of the year. Despite being a low-budget film, it surpassed the Rs 100 crore mark. Munjyaꦛ collected Rs 128.2 crore worldwide. It is based on the legend of Munjya, inspired by Indian folklore. The story revolves around a story of the mythical creature, who creates havoc in the life of Bittu (Abhay Verma).

Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya

Despite mixed reviews, Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon ꦬstarrer was a hit at the box office. It grossed Rs 142.5 crore. Directed by debutant directors, Amit Joshi and Aradhana Sah, it revolves around the story of a robotic scientist (Shahid Kapoor), who falls in love with Sifra, an AI (Artificial Intelligence) female robot (Kriti Sanon).

Crew

Starring Kareena Kapoor, Tabu and Kriti Sanon, Crew is a fresh in concept and an women-led film. The trio plays flight attendants of Kohinoor Airlines who is fed up of their jobs due to low pay, non-payment of dues and pressure of their work. When they come to know, their company has gone bankrupt, they decide to smuggle gold biscuits. It also starred Diljit Dosanjh and Kapil Sharma in cameo roles. Crew earned Rs 156.8 crore globally.

Pushpa 2: The Rule (Hindi version)

Allu Arjun-Rashmika Mandanna starrer Pushpa 2🔥 tops the list of 2024 in terms of the highest-grossing Indian films of the year. As per reports, the Sukumar directorial staggering made a whopping Rs 758.65 crore in Hindi. It is still successfully running in theatres.
